Peter Maverick {2 months}

Stats

  • size 2 diapers, but I think I’ll buy size 3 in the next couple days!

  • size 0-3 months still fits, but only barely

  • 14.8 pounds (94%), 23.75 inches (83%) — Both his sisters didn’t weigh this much til about 5.5 months 😅

Notable events

  • Your first Memorial Day! No ice blocking for you, though. You’ll have to wait til next year!

  • First family birthday celebration, but again, you’ll have to wait a while for the donuts and kolache portions of our family birthday celebrations 🤣

Tricks/Milestones

  • Smiling daily now! Got more consistent around 8 weeks.

  • Starting to coo 😍

  • Holding his head up very well

Favorite things

  • Watching him sleep. Gosh babies are just so cute when they sleep!

  • Still loving breastfeeding and it’s still going so well!

  • Seeing those smiles and hearing those coos 😍

Random tidbits

  • He stopped pooping constantly around 6 weeks, which was a welcome change! I also don’t really worry about him peeing during diaper changes anymore, as he hasn’t done it in a few weeks 🎉

  • Still won’t really take a binky, and gags almost anytime anything other than a nipple goes in his mouth (even if I touch super shallow, like his front gums!!).

  • When he sleeps, he’ll often make a grumpy face (as babies do), and for a while when he did this, Holly would say, “He’s rude-ing me!” to mean, “He’s looking at me rudely!”

  • He does this quivery lip thing that looks so sad! But we haven’t really detected a pattern for what it means.

  • Right about the time that his baby acne was clearing up, he got cradle cap IN HIS EYEBROWS! It looked horrible. So I’d put coconut oil on them every day, and peel up the pieces with tweezers as they were ready, and finally they cleared up completely a few days ago. All day that day I just kept saying “He is SO CUTE!” because I could finally see his adorable face again. He still has cradle cap on his head, but I care much less about it than I did with his sisters because AT LEAST IT’S NOT ON HIS FACE anymore!!

  • Per usual for my babies, his hair is thinning 😭

  • His sisters still love him like crazy, but they give him a liiiiiiitle more space these days. Sometimes 🤣 Unless they’re fighting over who gets to look at him 🤪

Sleep

Sleep is funny . . . a few days ago, I felt like everything was going horribly, and now the last few days have gone really well! I think things are partly going better because I’ve basically given up trying to have him fall asleep on his own in the crib, I sometimes opt for longer wake windows, I’ve had more help the last few days because it’s been the weekend, and I’ve been better to just go with the flow. I think one of the hardest parts of sleep this time around is that I have two other kids and I can’t just ignore them all day for the sake of Pete’s sleep. So I typically feel weighed down after 4 days in a row of trying to take care of all three kids by myself for most of the day.

  • Awake 8/8:30am, 3-4 naps/day with 1- to 2-hour waketimes, in bed around 8/8:30pm.

  • Usually wakes 2x/night, but last night he only woke once at 5am (and actually, he wasn’t even awake because I dream-fed him), so I’d love that trend to continue!

  • Naps are typically in the carrier, car seat/stroller, or he is nursed to sleep. Sometimes I’m able to transfer him to the crib 10-20 minutes after he falls asleep.

  • Keep in mind, these are our norms AT two months — not for the duration of the whole month. Check out Pete’s Sleep Schedule story highlight on IG for more specific weekly details!
